| MaxxBoxx Datasystems
sold Tanzania, Nitro, Tsunami, and CHRP-based MacOS-Compatibles in Germany
from July 1997 to February 1998.It's not clear whether or not MaxxBoxx had
a MacOS-license, but it seems that they had a license from Umax, and then
were preparing to migrate to CHRP-based systems. On February 1, 1998, MaxxBoxx
officially closed down operations, most likely due to the cancellation of
CHRP. The MaxxBoxx 860/180 MP, based on the Nitro architecture, features dual 180 MHz PowerPC 604e processors, 32 MB of RAM, a 2.0 GB hard drive, near-broadcast-quality video input/output, and built-in graphics acceleration in a large "cube" case that can hold up-to 10 internal devices. This model was sold only in Germany. |
